Nicaraguan Protests Turn Violent

  • At least 25 people, including a police officer and a journalist, have been killed since protests began on 18 April 2018.
  • The protests began in reaction to planned changes to the national social security system which have now been cancelled by the Nicaraguan government
  • A number of independent television channels have been blocked by the government for their coverage of the unrest.
